Dena DeRose voice, piano – Roberto Gatto drums – Piero Odorici, sax – Stefano Senni, double bass
A talented singer, pianist and arranger, a great sense of swing and an excellent approach to improvisation, the American Dena DeRose was defined by Joel Siegel of Washington City Paper “the most creative, convincing, compelling singer-pianist after Shirley Horn”. Settled in the New York club scene, Dena has for some years been divided between the United States and Europe, particularly Austria, where she teaches at the University of Music and Performance in Graz, and Italy, where she often collaborates with the Bolognese saxophonist Piero Odorici. From this frequentation the quartet is born, for the occasion completed by an exceptional rhythm section, Roberto Gatto on drums, Stefano Senni on double bass, the musical proposal is dedicated to the motives of the best known American songwriters and personal repertoire.
