Danton Derelle Whitley, born in Aberdeen, Maryland, is often regarded as a pioneer of his art. From the earliest age, his music has always been a great gift. In 2010 he obtained the artistic diploma in Canto at the Morgan State University, and having a Pastor father at the Church Of God In Christ Organization (COGIC), Danton soon became a director of the choir out of the ordinary, which he interprets skillfully and with passion for God’s messages.

Today, Whitley plays the role of Minister of Music at the Refuge Temple COGIC in Aberdeen. He is also director of the National Choir for the first COGIC jurisdiction in Maryland and works as a choir director in the Harford County Southern Baptist Church. He is an excellent singer, writer, composer, musician, preacher and gospel teacher. All qualities that combined with the vocal style and the skills of the Mosaic Sound group, gave life to a chorus of extraordinary strength.

The Danton Whitley & Mosaic Sound group was founded in 2006, and introduces itself into the world of gospel music as a breath of freshness, offering a message of freedom and hope. They take inspiration and name from the art of mosaic and from the writings of Moses and their goal is to share the word of Jesus through music and song. Influenced by genres such as opera, jazz and contemporary gospel, classical and Christian music, their sound is unique and incomparable.

Thanks to their talent and their captivating sound, the group recently won the Dee Dee Showell Legacy award for best group.

In January 2012, Danton Whitley & Mosaic Sound released their first single, “It’s Settled”, an anticipation of their acclaimed CD released in the spring of 2013. The album was produced by Tyrae Brown of “Brownsville Music” and all the songs were written and produced by Whitley.
