Bokante ‘(which in the Creole language means “exchange”) is the new project conceived by Michael League, founder and leader of Snarky Puppy, a band now very popular also from the parts of our peninsula. A multilingual project that has its roots between the Mississippi Delta and the African desert. As well as its components, which come from four continents and all together contribute to define the kaleidoscopic and enthralling sound of the Bokanté.
At the center of it all is the beautiful voice of Malika Tirolien, who grew up on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe and now lives in Montreal. And then there are other Snarky Puppies: guitarists Chris McQueen and Bob Lanzetti, while Michael League, who usually plays bass, on the occasion takes up the baritone guitar. And then there is a forest of percussion, without forgetting the other guitars (lap & pedal steel guitar) by Roosevelt Collier. The result of this mix of cultures, ropes, drums and metals is consequently explosive!
