After the album “Ellipses”, released for Tuk in 2014, the quartet by Francesco Ponticelli continued to pursue the search for an alchemy between the strength of the compositions and the freedom of improvisation. The second album, titled Kon-Tiki, always coming out with Tuk Music, is an expression of this research; the songs have a distinct character, evoke ever-changing landscapes and recall styles that are also distant from each other, from soundtracks to science fiction films to Caribbean sounds, or westerns, or blues. The rich palette of colors then serves to open moments of improvisation in which it does not matter to follow a style, but to give an expressive content to the sound and to hear the interplay. The group also appears in the world of electronic sounds creating a fusion with acoustic sound that broadens the dynamic and timbre of what is, basically, a jazz quartet.
